The Aura Credenza debuted with Council’s premier collection at ICFF in 2007 as a statement piece meant primarily for lobbies and reception areas, where its oversized design would impress without overwhelming, but this intriguing piece of furniture is sleek and functional enough for any room with a long stretch of wall that needs extra storage.
The long, low design (it’s 90.5″ long, 27.5″ high and 23.5″ deep) would look stunning along a feature wall with one large piece of artwork displayed above it. It can work in your home because the design keeps the scale from being overpowering. One & Co. balanced the size and proportions with an interesting blend of materials that keep the eye moving so your gaze isn’t weighted down.
The frame of the credenza is wood veneer with smoothly rounded corners, available in wenge, white oak, Douglas fir or walnut to coordinate with most décor. To lighten the look, the interior storage, of high gloss laminate, is suspended within the cabinet without appearing to touch at any point, providing empty air space all around of a few inches. The two elements are held together by the slender, sleek stainless steel legs that pierce the cabinet and interior at an angle and run all the way through.
This floating illusion is lovely, and the semi-opaque white lacquer doors reinforce the airy, cloud-like feeling. Very few pieces so substantial appear so light on their feet! If you have an awkward length of wall begging to be filled but don’t want an oversized monstrosity, the Aura Credenza is ideal.
