With a project area of over 7,000 square feet, designing the DG House was certainly no small task, but the experienced and innovative minds at DOMBarchitects always make it look so easy.
This large family home called for simple, honest materials like gray oak and sprawling panes of glass. Imaginative architectural forms are highlighted by creative interior elements, such as an endless serpentine crystal chandelier in the double height living room. This social space uses organic sculptures and furnishings to balance the clean lines of the windows and visually open stairwell.
The modern design of the adjacent cooking and dining area is just as fascinating, despite being a bit more compact. We love the hanging geometric sculpture that so perfectly echoes the dining chairs – how often do you see such fantastic fine art in a kitchen?
We can see why the DG House would be a fantastic place to raise a family – but wouldn’t you get tired of cleaning tiny handprints off of all those windows? Whew!
