Have you ever wanted to know what it would feel like to live inside an art gallery? Veerle Wenes and her husband Bob Christiaens are living the dream thanks to this brilliantly efficient renovation by architect Bart Lens.
Veerle wanted a seamless transition between her work and private life, so the Hybrid Home was born. Only glass walls and an open kitchen separate the art gallery from the living areas. The open dining room serves as a gallery reception during exhibition openings, brick floors and exposed beam ceilings make the dove grey interior feel warm despite its size.
The furniture, the fixtures, the lighting – each piece is a modern design icon. The entire contemporary interior is an interactive and functional exhibit. The carved candelabra in the living room is from the RAW collection by Jens Fager, the tables from Matiere Grise, lots of Van Saarinen furniture throughout, even the bathroom is artfully decorated with a playful mishmash of vintage cabinets all painted white.
What an inspirational gallery! The lovely Hybrid Home truly takes “home office” to the next level.
