Polarized Bamboo and Acetate Sunglasses

How many of us have spent hundreds of dollars for a few ounces of plastic and metal when buying sunglasses? Probably more than we should admit. Way too often, if you want to look like a million bucks, you’ve got to spend close to that amount.

8wake is am awesome sunglasses designer based out of Philadelphia that is breaking the mold. They firmly believe that incredible fashion should be available at a reasonable cost, and nowhere is that more apparent than in their Ria Islands collection.

The Bamboo Revolution

8Wake has seized on the growing popularity of bamboo in fashion. They use beautifully polished bamboo to craft the arms of the sunglasses that make up the Ria Islands collection. The result is a natural, smooth look that is completely original in the world of sunglasses.

Functionally, bamboo makes a great mate to the acetate used in the front of the sunglasses. Acetate is used by most glasses manufacturers because it is light and comfortable. The bamboo is also light, but adds a natural sense of style that just isn’t possible when working with 100% synthetic materials.

Function, Form, and Frugality

Sunglasses need to do two things. They need to look great and block out the sun. That’s it. The Ria Islands collection performs both of these tasks admirably. The mirrored lenses are polarized, so they look stylish while also effectively blocking light. They’re available in both yellow and orange lensed options, and with black or brown acetate fronts.

Finally, you can get them for a fraction of the cost of what most designer sunglasses cost. The value for money is incredible in this collection, and in all of 8wake’s products. Their original line, the Peke Collection, is similarly affordable and fashionable.

Imagine that you’re lying on a perfect white sand beach, with a drink in your hand and the sun just dipping into the ocean. That feeling is exactly what these glasses look like.
